Why is lye (sodium hydroxide) used  in the soap?  Can you make it without it?                       

Lye is used in all true soap. You cannot make soap without it.  Once the lye is mixed with the oils during the soaping making process, a reaction called saponification occurs over the next 24-48 hours. After this time period, no lye remains and you have beautiful, handmade soap!
Did you know that most store bought soap isn’t actually soap? It’s compressed detergent! Yet another reason why handmade soap is superior. Gentle, natural soap without preservatives and harsh additives.

• Gentle on the skin and does not strip natural oils.                  
• Deeply hydrating for softer, smoother skin.                
• Rich in fatty acids making a barrier to hold in moisture.    
• High in AHA containing lactic acid aiding in gentle exfoliation and skin brightening.
